Critical Role Season Four Unveils the Fighters Table

From the very beginning of the fourth campaign, fresh DM Brennan Mulligan has kept fans guessing with extensive world-building, a colorful mix of characters, and a thrilling plot showcasing divine entities, demons, and malevolent powers increasing in strength within the urban setting.

Warning: Revealing details for the third episode of the new season are included.

The Warrior Group Introduced

The latest chapter finished on a dramatic pause and presented the first table of heroes who will branch out from the main group to begin their independent quest, separate from the other two tables.

This warrior group features Teor (brought to life by the voice actor), the agile character (the talented performer), the strong-willed figure (Whitney), Wicander Halovar (Sam), and Kattigan (Robbie Daymond).

The Reason for Division

Given a large ensemble, it was obvious from the outset that having everyone at one table would be impossible.

That’s why, the initial installments of Campaign 4 serve as an Prelude, weaving together the characters’ stories before branching into three smaller tables: Warriors, Planners, and Seekers.

Characteristics of the Soldiers Table

As described by Brennan Lee Mulligan, the Soldiers table is for players who are drawn to a typically action-packed fight-heavy gameplay experience where diplomatic options are few and far between.

Initially, characters like the reluctant priest the cleric might look unsuited, but the developments of the third episode demonstrate why these five characters are best suited for the warrior group.

Why They Must Go

First, the party understands precisely where to head next after a violent opening clash with The Crow Keepers.

An old friend of the deceased character—whose death initiated the narrative’s action—exploited the foes for his own means, invading Thjazi’s hideout, assaulting Thimble, and swiping all the enchanted items to dispose of.

The traitor then paid off his debts and escaped to a secure base in the northern region, beyond the city, with Teor’s brother close behind.

Personal Motivations

Secondly, each character has a personal reason to depart the metropolitan area:

  • The agile hero, as the companion and best friend, wants revenge.
  • Kattigan is familiar with Timmony and warns that it is a hostile place.
  • The warrior and Wicander, having defied his house’s orders to execute the fighter and instead freed him, have no safe haven.
  • However, their position as prominent individuals in House Halovar could assist the party enter places they typically wouldn’t be able to.
  • Furthermore, The grateful character vowed a eternal obligation to The savior for his deliverance and will now go with him everywhere.

Fugitives

Lastly, all of them are sought by the powers that govern the city for a variety of reasons, making staying in the city too risky:

  • Thimble and The hero are notorious outlaws.
  • The strong figure and Wicander betrayed House Halovar and the horde of evil beings they are partnered with.
  • Teor is marked for death by the family.

This leaves them little choice but to head to Timmony in quest for the traitor.

Upcoming Developments

From the recent installment’s Cooldown, we learn that the Soldiers table will not appear next week, leaving the remaining eight cast members to form the Questers and Planners tables.

Viewers can expect discovering which characters will be where in the story’s final introductory chapter, streaming live on October 24.
